Understanding Lymphoedema

Cancer Council NSW 2017

The Cancer Council of NSW has developed a new 8 page fact sheet Understanding Lymphoedema. Reviewed by a panel of clinicians and consumers, including two Lymphoedema Action Alliance members, this online resource provides easy-to-read information about secondary lymphoedema following cancer treatment.

The fact sheet explains what cancer-related lymphoedema is, lists the risk factors and signs to look out for, outlines the diagnostic tests, and describes the main treatments. In recognition of the importance of self-care, the fact sheet also includes steps people can take to reduce their risk of developing lymphoedema or stop it progressing.

This new resource expands on the information about lymphoedema currently contained in relevant booklets in the Cancer Council Understanding Cancer series.

The fact sheet is available now on the Cancer Council NSW website as a PDF and as a downloadable booklet.
